A Day in the Life
Today was a good day! It started off with some sleeping in and then some time in the sunshine. I busted out the Costa Rica blanket that I got 6 years ago and had some old school “blanket time”. I miss just laying in the grass and having some time to myself. I was able to get some reading done ( I’m reading Blink right now by Malcolm Gladwell) and I think that I even got some color.
Then Cameron got home from a Sunday lab that he had, went for a bike ride while I was at the gym, and then we went to Olive together for dinner. It’s a local place here that offers all kinds of food, but most importantly, amazing gourmet pizza! Cameron had smoked salmon pizza and I had the classic 4 cheese pizza.
After that we HAD to have dessert so we decided to head over to the frozen yogurt shop where I work. It never hurts to get dessert where I can get a deal. :)
I’m trying to keep up with the whole photo a day thing. I’ll try to be better about it.

Let’s see… for today I think that I will have to do some Zumba followed by some SOFTBALL!

Cameron absolutely LOVES any form of baseball/softball so of course when he heard that he had the opportunity to be a part of an intramural team he said that we had to play. Luckily for me spouses are also allowed to play so we are actually on the same team. They don’t have the turn out here for intramurals like they do at Southern so in order to have a softball team you have to have at least 2 women. I am one of those fearless women. :)
Our team this season is called “I thought this was volleyball” because they happen to play volleyball intramurals at the same time of year. :) So no matter if we win or lose, we always have a nice laugh at the end of the game when the other team chants our name.
Wish me luck!
Until now. Now I get it.
This is a long post with a lot of personal problems written so I’m going to put it after a break. But if you do decide to read it, please read it all the way to the end. The end is the most important part.
I was just recently (a few minutes ago) taking part in an app called socialcam. I have yet to post any videos of myself, but I have shared a few. I clicked on the video share button and up popped a list of options: Facebook, twitter, email, tumblr… This is when I said to myself, “Tumblr, wait a second, I think I have one of those…” sure enough! I went to tumblr.com and tried my usual logins.
Ah ha!
I do have a tumblr account and it is in fact still alive and floating around in the space that is the Internet. So, what the heck. I’m going to make some changes to the look of things and just start over. This is the beauty of writing something that no one will probably ever see. :) So here’s to a new tumblr beginning!
Everyone needs a little positivity in their day. This is fantastic.
Also, I’m crying like a baby.
If there is one thing that I’ve learned from all this wedding planning, it’s that you have to expect the unexpected. One day my mom and I were out and about trying to find a bra that I can wear under my wedding dress, which was a task because I have a longer torso than most, when we got a call from my uncle.
My uncle was calling to tell us that he was watching the news and that he had heard that a wedding venue in Apopka was closing. My wedding venue was in Apopka so he continued to watch the news for us and was going to let us know what was going on. We got a call back from my uncle and sure enough, my wedding venue had closed its doors and we were out of a reception venue.
That led to a mad scramble to find where we could have our reception on such short notice. We started emailing every hotel in the area to see what their availability was and what the pricing difference would be. Luckily the area vendors were very sympathetic to our situation and were even price matching what we would have been getting out of Highland Manor.
Long story short, we went to a few different locations in the area and have already signed a new agreement with a hotel that will be closer and easier to get to than our first option. I just feel bad for the brides that had their weddings 2 weeks away. Or for the father of the bride that had already paid $7,000 that he’ll never see again. It really made me want to go up to Michigan where the leaser lives and punch him in the face. Or maybe even in his unmentionables.
I guess that it all worked out in the end. Until when we were printing out our invitations and realized that someone had opened up the box, taken out some of the invitations, and replaced them with a bunch of envelopes. So we are short about 25 invitations and they are no where to be found. We went back to the store where we bought them and they aren’t there. We went to all the other stores in town where we think they might be and they weren’t there. So we finally called the manufacturer, explained to them our situation and they are sending us the extra invitations that we need. Or at least we hope.
Like I said, your should always try to expect the unexpected. We’ve learned from this that it’s always a good idea to have a plan b just incase your venue closes down or some idiot took out invitations for the box that you bought. In the end, no matter what happens, we WILL be getting married!
